Gowling Disappointed With Defeat

Hereford were expected to defeat Alfreton yesterday afternoon but they lost 2-1. the defeat makes reaching the play-offs that much more difficult with the Bulls now in 10th position.

Afterwards manager Josh Gowling spoke to the local media.

"Disappointing.

"I think we just went long, I don't think we played much football first 35, last 10 we started to get into the game, got the ball down and played.

"We were a bit patient but then you get hit with a sucker punch just before half time which we've got to defend better."

Brandon Hall appeared to be at fault for the first goal.

"He knows he's got to do better. It is what it is. He looked a bit in trouble as he shot. I don't know if he just got his body position wrong or what I don't know.

"But those things happen, he's been good for us this season so take that on the chin and go again."

Alfreton's second goal, just before half time, came after Hereford had gone forward in numbers.

"It was just too easy. There were a lot of things leading up to that we could have stopped so that's disappointing. We had stopped doing that and then in a big game you need to win you end up doing that."

Alfreton game plan appeared to work?

"Well they haven't touched the ball have they for eighty minutes. They've had two shots and scored both. Otherwise it's been all us.

"It's probably the most one sided 2-1 you'll see but we give stupid goals away like that and that's what happens.

"They slowed the game down, they time wasted as they do and you end up getting frustrated.

"The referee told the goal keeper three times that's the last time and he carried on doing it but at the end of the day that's not the reason we lost the game, we lost the game because we gave two poor goals away.

"We changed to three at the back towards the end and we scored from it.

"We've got a points target and we'll hit that, I'm sure we will, but it's disappointing because you expect to win here."
