Ryan McLean Started On The Bench This Afternoon
Hereford manager Josh Gowling took longer than usual to talk to the local media after this afternoon's 1-0 loss to Southport.
It was the Bulls fifth game in 14 days and Gowling seemed to suggest that was part of the problem.
"The first half wasn't brilliant," said Gowling.
"We spoke before the game about not being drawn into their game which is very direct which is exactly what we did.
"We didn't get on the ball, we didn't play. When we had a bit of pressure on us instead of trying to keep the ball we just went long.
"They came today I think for a draw. They defend well and they just go direct.
"We just look a bit leggy at the moment. I thought we were leggy on Tuesday and we were a bit flat today. From the start we looked really flat."
Ryan McLean was dropped to the bench for today's game.
"Ryan has not been doing well lately.
"I think he's come from lower levels, he's had a good run in the team but in the last couple of games which thought he hasn't impacted like he has done."
Interviewer Keith Hall suggested that the desire might not have been there today.
"I think we had better be careful of the words we use because the lads do have desire and they are disappointed in the changing room but they have desire and committment for this football club that's for sure.
"We've had two games when we've been flat and that's something I need to address. If it means we've got to freshen things up then we've got to freshen things up."
