Midfielder James Vincent made his debut for the Bulls this afternoon. Afterwards he spoke to the local media.
"It was good," said Vincent.
"I really enjoyed being out with the lads.
"It's been a frustrating sort of preparation for myself and a couple of the boys, and the team in general to be honest.
"To finally get clearance to play for the team I was happy but disappointed about the result today but I think we can only get stronger and better.
"The team has done fantastic for me, I've not played the last few games but in terms of the team itself I thought they've been brilliant. They've took on board what the manager been putting through and I think in a lot of the games we've shown really positive moments in the pre-season.
"So in terms of myself personally I don't think it's affected the team too much, just me getting to fitness levels, getting out on the park there's nothing like game fitness, training matches are not the same but I can only get better, fitter, stronger and hopefully help the team more than there."
Hereford had plenty of chances.
"Sometimes when you get defeated like that you need to look at the positives and we created chances that on other day we would have put away. That's three or four goals in the back of the net.
"I wasn't here last season but the lads have said how different it was, how many chances they're making and that's only a positive thing going forward. I think it's going to put us in good stead.
"You can see the way we want to play, attacking, good football, trying to be structured and solid which we were, I didn't really feel threatened too much today. It was a bit of a freak goal we conceeded.
"There are plenty of postives to take today. We know we can build on it, we know we need to be better but we go again abd fortunately we have another game to put that right.
"We approach every game to win. The manager says we want to 'elevate' from last season, want to do the right things, get us up the table as much as we can so we it to win.
"It doesn't really change the game plan the result we've had today. We'll go to Bradford Park Avenue to win the game and that's what we'll do.
"We'll look at them, analyse them, analyse ourselves today and the opponents and hopefully that will put us in good stead to win the game."
Joey Butlin missed a penalty for the Bulls.
"That's penalties isn't it, you score some you don't. Fair play he (Butlin) puts them away nine times out of ten in training. Just one of those things today. I would back Joey everyday of the week to go and score a penalty but he didn't today. It is what it is. You take the rough with the green.
Vincent was asked about the Hereford support this afternoon.
"I thought they were brilliant, really good, just shows what we've missed with the restrictions put on football over the last two years. It really shows what we've missed.
"Fair play regardless of going down a goal today they got behind the lads, they rallied us and even at the end they were clapping us off and that's good.
"We want to be in it together this year and I think that's what it should be about. It should be a club where we all want the same things and you can see that the fans get right behind you and hopefully that will continue for the season."
Finally Vincent was asked what had convinced him to come to Hereford?
"The manager, the size of the club, everything about it.
"I think I played here when I was at Kidderminster with a packed-out stand and it's something you want to be involved in.
"You want to be in a progressive, hopefully successful club and that's what we want to do here.
"I saw that you had a decent cup run last year. I always kept an eye out because I knew the manager and hopefully we can do and do something like that this year. Success in the league and a good cup run.
"It's an attractive club with good fans and it's something I want to be a part of so I'm really happy to be here.
"Clearance is done and I can get going now."
