Despite having a large fanbase, Hereford manager Josh Gowling has said that he is working under restrictions because Covid hit the revenues of the club last season.
"The realities of Covid, which decimated our revenues, has required us to cut our cloth," said Gowling in an interview with the Non-League Paper.
"So despite Hereford having one of the biggest fanbases in the division, I'm working under restrictions."
Gowling has several new ideas that, he hopes, will give him an edge over other clubs. One, in particular, is a programme to help identify players who fit the clubs philosophy and have the potential to be sold on.
Another is the reintroduction of an under 18 team.
"Our academy was axed in May 2020 due to financial pressures early in the pandemic.
"My involvement will see the youth side mirror all our first team do.
"I've created a reward scheme whereby each week the two best trainers in the youth team will train with us, making them feel they are part of the club and that there is a clear pathway for them."
Last season the club trained at Warwick but Gowling said that the grass pitches there can deteriorate through winter.
"We are in talks with the great guys at Sporting Kalsa to strike a deal that would allow us to use their facilites and us offer them support in return."
