A number of clubs have combined with the aim of trying to change football governance.
Accrington, Bury AFC, Cambridge United, Grimsby, Luton, Maidstone, Newport, Tonbridge and AFC Wimbledon are members of the Fair Game campaign. More clubs are expected to join.
Their aim is to seek to influence and work with the government’s fan-led review which is chaired by Tracey Crouch MP.
Maidstone co-owner Oliver Ash says it was a simple decision to sign up having read what Fair Game stands for.
“A good example of this is last week’s National League EGM, where
half the clubs voted for a motion of no confidence in the chairman and
board, yet the league pass it off as a convincing result in their favour
because of an unfair voting system," said Ash as reported by KentOnline.
“The events of the past year and the government review into football have given us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the game.”
Fair Game are set to hold a series of open workshops over the next weeks.
