This from the FSA:
Last weekend the Secretary of State announced the panel for the
fan-led review of football governance - and wasting no time, its chair
Tracey Crouch MP has begun gathering evidence from supporter
representatives.
Crouch told the FSA’s governing body that an interim report will be made available in July 2021, with the final report published in October 2021. It will cover clubs who compete in the English pyramid system.
The
FSA’s member supporter organisations will lead dozens of
evidence-gathering sessions throughout May and June, at which Crouch
will listen to their experiences and proposals for improving football
governance.
“The fan-led review has full government backing," she
said. "Unlike previous football governance reviews which have either
been led by Culture, Media and Sport committees, or football itself,
meaning that in all of those cases, Government has not had to act on
their recommendations.”
Fan-led evidence gathering sessions
A
series of fan-led evidence sessions, which started this week, are set
to take place during May and June with FSA-affiliates and associates at
every level of the game being given an opportunity to make proposals.
An
interim chair’s report is planned for July while the final report has
been scheduled for October 2021, which will be written after evidence
from hundreds of supporter organisations across dozens of events has
been heard.
The advisory panel
At the weekend the review's advisory panel, made up of ten senior figures from across the football industry, was announced and it included FSA chief executive Kevin Miles. At the meeting with supporter representatives this week, Crouch eased concerns about the panels make up and its remit.
"The
report will be my report as chair, not the panel’s, and a clear Terms
of Reference has been laid out," she said. "The advisory panel will join
the fan-led evidence sessions and advise on technicalities which arise
from within their area of expertise, but it does not sign off the final
report."
What does the FSA think?
We'll
be contacting our associate and affiliate members over the coming weeks
and months about how they can contribute to the review - so look out for
emails from us about how you can get involved. It's going to be a busy
few months and FSA chief executive Kevin Miles has been urging fans to
support the review's work.
"I’m very optimistic that we have a
once in a generation opportunity to reset the finance and regulation of
football," he said. "There is no doubt in my mind that there is going to
be a loud and clear voice heard from supporters at every level of the
game – right through the pyramid from the Premier League down to the
national game, the women’s game and supporter-owned clubs."
