Hereford FC manager Josh Gowling faced the press after yesterday's 3-1 defeat in the FA Trophy final at Wembley. He admitted that his side had let Hornchurch back into the game.
"We went in 1-0," Gowling told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"But we let them back into the game by turning the ball over too easily.
"We wanted to control the tempo of the game and the pace of the game which we did quite well.
"Obviously we worked on a set piece and we scored from it.
"But we didn't play how we play, that the frustrating thing.
"We went a bit too direct at times and then when they put a bit of pressure on us, especially in the second half, on the turnover we just didn't kill the first ball.
"That's the disappointing thing we just tried to turn it over which then becomes a basketball game, back and forwards, and that's what it ended up being and obviously we came off worst."
The Hereford Times also had some quotes from Gowling.
“I think we controlled the first half but lost the game in the second half as we didn’t retain the football.
“I feel for the lads as they’re like sons to me, but we dropped off a little bit when I wanted them to try and push forward.
“We have got to be gracious in defeat, my lads are respectful and will bounce back. I’m hurting but I know we will come back stronger.
“Sometimes you have to go through this to propel yourself forward. The lads have been excellent all season and we have learnt each time we have had a loss."
Player coach Yan Klukowski felt Hereford failed to take advantage having scored the first goal of the game.
"The warning signs were there, the skipper did very well to clear off the line."
