Hereford FC's new loan player Ryan McLean had a trial with Port Vale last August.
His manager at Newcastle Town is Robin van der Laanand he told the Stoke Sentinel about the winger.
"He was at Shrewsbury Town as a kid so has been at an academy. Once he got released, he played locally in the Telford area," said Van Der Laanand..
"We signed him seven games into the season last year from Market Drayton. We had played against them early on and they had caused us loads of problems.
"He was very raw when we got him and the season before he came to us he had scored two goals. But we spent time working with him, on his runs, and just generally trying to help him become a better player.
"That is one of the reasons why he came to us. We have promised him that if there are opportunities we will let him go on trial.
"Burton have looked at him and he was at Stoke for a bit at the end of last season.
"There is a lot of interest in him because there is no substitute for speed and he has an eye for goal as well.
"Players with his speed can do that if they make the right run. If he works with someone who is a good target man and hold up player, a clever player who can play him in, then he will cause problems from anywhere."
McLean was asked about going on trial.
"Yeah, Of course, training with these players for hours each day
would benefit anyone, I like to think I wasn’t far off the standard but
didn’t work out at the time, but I think it’s made me realise where I
can get to if I put the effort in."
