Here at Talking Bull we are delighted to bring you another HUGE 70-page edition of the Independent Hereford Football Club Supporters’ magazine ahead of the FA Trophy Quarter-Final against Aldershot Town.
Thanks to your enthusiasm this is the 12th issue
we have produced during the pandemic and it is crammed full of
content, with a plethora of articles from contributors old and new.
We bring you the legendary Rob
Purdie who looks at the effect an excellent rapport in the dressing room can
bring, and recalls a disturbing clash involving Trevor Benjamin and Stan
Collymore.
We re-visit the Conference
play-off semi-final against Aldershot in 2004 when ‘Woolmergate’ denied
Hereford an opportunity of returning to the Football League despite a
free-scoring season. Just how bad a decision was it to give Andy Tretton a red-card?
What would VAR have made of it!
The Steve Niblett camera zooms
in on another vital game against the Shots as Hereford thought they had
performed the ‘Great Escape’ at the Recreation Ground in 2014. Were you there?
Chris Ammonds describes the
National League governance as a shambles following the debacle surrounding the
events which have led to making the season null and void. Should the 2020/21
campaign have even started?
Despite the stop-start nature
of the season the Meadowender suggests that progress has definitely been made
under the management of Josh Gowling and Steve Burr, but surely now is the time
to secure the core of the playing squad. Steve Hughes also provides his own
individual assessment of Josh Gowling – ‘The Boss’.
We bring you an insight into
striker Joey Butlin and George Forsyth who have recently been given an
opportunity at Edgar Street, and there is a pictorial debut for Michael Bakare
and Ryan McLean as the latest signings.
In our Bulls Back in Time
feature; Hereford won the Welsh Cup in 1990 and in Camels Corner we take a look
back to the day the prize money for lifting the trophy was presented to the
club at Edgar Street. But there was hardly a fanfare with fans wondering ‘Where
are the Sky-Divers?’
We are on the road again with
Irish Bull doubting his choice of motor vehicles, Ian Sandford recalls a recent
trip to Gateshead…but a funny thing happened along the way, whilst Chris Jones
completes his epic journey as he finally becomes a member of the 92 club.
In addition to coronavirus the
National League North has also been disrupted by the weather leaving Jim Clewer
‘Itchin to Play’. But just how many matches have Hereford ever seen postponed
in a single season? Also frozen out is the former Hereford FC boss Peter Beadle
who could not repeat his Edgar Street successes at the Hive with Barnet. Trevor
Knell investigates. Not to be out done, Ruth Walkden cannot hide her
disappointment at the news that ‘The Game is Off, Mate!”
We’re in conversation with Kyle
Holmes who recalls his time at Edgar Street in the mid-1970s when, as part of the
Bulls’ squad, he faced the likes of George Best, Stan Bowles, Micky Droy, Peter
Taylor and Bob Wilson. On an adventure of his own is Richard Woods who reveals the
trials and tribulations he has experienced as a Hereford fan in exile.
All this…and much, much more in
the latest FREE edition of Talking Bull.
