George Forsyth - His Career To Date

23 Year old George Forsyth who has joined Hereford from Halesowen is the son of the Stourbridge FC Head of Youth & Academy Richard Forsyth.

He started out with Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Shrewsbury Town as a schoolboy before joining the Kidderminster Harriers youth and academy set-up.

After a couple of successful seasons he signed contract terms with Kidderminster Harriers. He subsequently spent time out on loan at a variety of clubs to gain more experience, such as Halesowen Town, Yate Town, Rushall Olympic, Hednesford Town and Stratford Town.

In the summer of 2017 George signed for Gloucester City, but towards the end of August he was loaned out to Worcester City and then looking for regular first team football, he joined Worcester on a more permanent basis in October 2017. He became a key player for City and one of the first names on the team-sheet.

In February 2019 he joined Stourbridge. Last May he joined up with Halesowen.

Forsyth has played at Edgar Street before today.

He captained an FA select XI who played a Herefordshire FA team in February 2019. Paul Fairclough was in charge of the FA squad and afterwards spoke to the Worcester News about Forsyth.

"George wants to play football, he doesn’t want to act as the net in a game of tennis with the ball flying over him all the time. He is a player who wants to get on the ball.

"If he can play in an environment where he is allowed to receive possession and play forward to players who want to take the ball I think he can really flourish.

"He has a good stature and is very composed on the ball. You can see he wants to play and he was in the right place to do that in this game.

"He looked very comfortable on the ball and kept things ticking over for us, made himself available and played from behind the ball to receive from the back four and wide players which was exactly what I asked of him.

"I had to keep pushing him at the end because he got a bit tired but I thought he did very well. As a person he comes across as a deep thinker who perhaps gets a bit disillusioned at times. He needs to be with someone who does not necessarily make him the focal point of the team but makes things go through him.

"The boy can tackle as well and can compete in the air, he is six-foot-three with great technical ability for someone of his size."
