Lenell John-Lewis scored both of the Bulls' goals as Josh Gowling's side bounced back from the midweek 5-3 loss to Chester.
It was a good all-round performance by Hereford that will clearly lift supporters on the back of some recent poor results.
Goalkeeper Paul White was clearly at fault for two of Chester's goals and fans would have been relieved to have seen Brandon Hall's name on the team sheet. Chris Camwell also started for Hereford.
Fylde were in The National League last season and were in second place in National League North going into the game.
And it was evident to see why they are on one of the stronger teams in the league as they dominated the early proceedings. In the seventh minute, a free-kick fell into the path of former Morcambe player David Perkins, whose deflected shot flew into the net.
Hereford had strong claims for a penalty waved away in the 16th minute when Kyle Finn went over in the box before John-Lewis shot straight at Fylde goalkeeper Chris Neal.
The home side managed to grow back into the game and created chances. However, they still needed Hall to make a decent save in the 33rd minute and deny Kurt Willoughby. Nevertheless, Hereford did equalise just four minutes later when John-Lewis fired a low shot home.
Hereford started the second half well and had plenty of possession. A cross from Finn just evaded Tom Owen-Evans before John-Lewis headed over in the 59th minute.
But John-Lewis did put his side ahead just a minute later. A cross was headed down into the path and the Bulls striker made no mistake, emphatically firing home.
Fylde had a great chance to equalise in the 68th minute, but Nathan Shaw was expertly denied by Hall. And then, Jamie Grimes had to clear the ball off the line.
However, Hereford could have sealed the win with just six minutes remaining. Neal had already made a save before Owen-Evans saw an effort deflected.
Fylde had minimal chances during the dying stages as the Lancashire side tried to force an equaliser, and Hereford controlled the game well to claim the win.
Considering the Bulls went into the game having conceded 10 goals in their previous three matches, it was pleasing to see them looking solid at the back and able to control proceedings. Kennedy Digie was a worthy man-of-the-match while Hall surely did enough to hang onto his place in goal. And when you've got John-Lewis at the other end of the pitch, you've always got a chance.
Hereford now have a break from league action, with possibly two FA Trophy matches now taking place during the next week. First up is a Second Round encounter with St Neots at Edgar Street on Tuesday.
