Last night Chester defeated Hereford 5-3 in an action packed match played in front of 403 Chester supporters.
Afterwards Chester joint manager Anthony Johnstone said he thought having fans back in the stadium made a difference.
“It was nice to feel it was a proper game of football, albeit with only a few hundred in," said Johnstone.
“But just to hear that noise when we scored. You miss that atmosphere. It was brilliant to have people back.
“The noise was great and, even at 2-0 down, there was no negativity. They were behind us, they were encouraging us coming off at half time. It’s just great having that support back.”
Johnstone felt Chester were lucky to have scored two of their goals.
“We scored three absolutely cracking goals, including two long-rangers, and a couple of goals with good moves in the build up.
“We also scored with a couple of errors from their keeper which we followed in, something we hadn’t done too much of.
“So, for the corner that Dec put on their keeper and he ended up parrying it in…. we have not had that type of luck. But you get that luck if you put the ball in the right areas and get bodies in the six yard box which we did."
Johnstone, however, wasn't pleased Hereford how scored two of their three goals.
“I can almost take their first goal – it was a well worked training ground goal from them. But the second and the third we have gifted them. That is becoming a regular occurrence where we are gifting silly opportunities away.
“But in fairness to our keeper Louis (Gray), he has pulled off some really smart saves in the second half to keep us in the game. So he has pulled us out of the muck."
Overall he was pleased.
"To come from 2-0 down to win 5-3 is a real feat at any level of football."
