It Could Have Been More Than Three Said Owen-Evans

Tom Owen-Evans

Tom Owen-Evans scored two of Hereford's three goals at Blyth Spartans this afternoon. He nearly scored a third before being substituted.

Afterwards he spoke to Keith Hall.

"You could see from the performance we created a lot of chances," said Owen-Evans.

"I think it could have been more than three in the end.

"It's been tough for us because we've not played for two and a half weeks and they've had games.

"As you can see everyone's fit, people like Lenell are back in now

"It's made a massive difference for the Gaffer to be able to pick who he wants."

Owen-Evans first goal was a header from a corner.

"I don't score many headers!

"The gaffer has allowed us to express ourselves, we've got players that can play off the cuff in situations like that so it wasn't something we have worked on but it worked and we scored from it."

He spoke about his second goal.

"I'm not really an out and out winger, I like drifting inside and finding myself in pockets and I just gambled that the ball was going to drop towards the edge of the box.

"Rather than attacking the back stick like I did with my first, I thought come inside. The ball came to Yan and he's left me with nothing else to do. I guided it and it took a little bit of a deflection away from the keeper."

Owen-Evans could have added to his brace.

"I had a left-footed shot that hit the side netting, I thought that was in. I took it quick. I didn't really know what my bearings were. I think Kelsey was a bit angry I didn't pass to him as well.

"It would have been a perfect hat-trick, right foot, left foot, head."
