Greg Downs was given money to invest in the squad, and bought in the likes of Dean Smith,Steve White,Nicky Cross,Tony James and Richard Wilkins. Despite beating West Brom in the League Cup Downs was dismissed mid September and John Layton took over as manager. Hereford ended the season in 16th position.
