Should Hereford Help It's Flood Hit Neighbours?

Edgar Street - Pictured By Ben Bowen
Earlier this week when the Storm Dennis hit the town, Hereford FC opened its doors to victims of the storm

'Refreshments and a place to rest will be available throughout the day for anyone who needs it.'

It was a kind deed and fitted in well with the aim of being more than just a football club.

Luckily Edgar Street doesn't get affected by flooding and, always assuming there isn't too much rain tonight, tomorrow's game against Darlington should go ahead.

Some of Hereford's neighbours aren't so lucky. For example both Westfields and even worse Hereford RFC have had a lot of water over their pitches and some damage.

Given Hereford do not have a first team home fixture after February 29th until March 21st, is there any merit in offering the facilities to another team like Westfields or Hereford RFC?

There may be reasons such as insurance or the lease why this can't happen or simply the worry that extra fixture(s) might damage the pitch too much. Or perhaps the weather might change and pitches elsewhere soon become playable again.

But if in the beginning of March Edgar Street could cope with an extra fixture, maybe it would be a nice gesture to offer the facilities to another local club struggling to play at its own ground.
