Same Old Story Said Riley

Martin Riley (6) Could Only Watch As Altrincham Scored Their First Goal
Hereford defender Martin Riley spoke to the local media after todays 2-0 defeat. He felt that players switching off had gifted Altrincham their goals.

"Pretty comfortable although they (Altrincham) had quite a bit of possession at times," said Riley.

"They didn't break us down but same old story, a couple of mistakes, people switching off and you are 1-0 down and then 2-0 down.

"We're disappointed as a group, they are a good side.

"Personally I'm getting a bit fed up not getting any points on the board.

"They are a possession based team so they were always going to get large portions of the ball.

"We are showing glimpses of improvements but we've got to start getting clean sheets on the board.

"All season it's been the same thing, individual mistakes, people switching off and we are conceeding sloppy goals.

"We've had some good chances, we've got to be putting the ball in the back of the net.

"If we had scored in the second half when we were on top, the momentum swings again and all of a sudden we are back in the game and we're looking for the three points for a win.

"But they've gone down the other end and out of the blue they've nicked a second goal.

"We've got to start putting points on the board and getting wins, we've drawn too many games.

"We're all pulling in the right direction, maybe it's a lack of quality or know-how or a bit of naivety in the camp.

"They were two soft goals, a team like Altrincham can rip you apart when they get going but we've gifted them a couple of goals."

Four difficult away games next.

"We all need to step up. It's a massive game on Tuesday night (York), it's a massive two months.

"We need to raise our game and put in an extra 10%.

"We need to get up that table, get a few wins on the board and get safe as quick as possible."
