Gowling Will Be Given Time To Deliver Said Graham

Speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester, Bulls chairman Andrew Graham said that the board would give interim manager Josh Gowling a chance to deliver before deciding whether to look for a new manager.

"We have had a significent number of people contact us in relationship to the vacant position," said Graham.

"Josh Gowling made an approach to the board when Russell Slade was appointed. He said he fancied stepping up and taking charge of the team. He believed he could gel them together.

"We listened to what he said  but it wasn't what was required at the time.

"We were talking to Russell Slade and Slade was by far and above the best candidate as we saw it on this occasion when the decision was taken.

"We needed to be sure they had an interim plan that we were able to try and bring that changing room to a position where we wanted them to be.

"Josh Gowling knows the players. He will be able to gel those players together.

"One thing we didn't want was what we have seen in the past, to bring somebody else in who is new. They are constrained by the budget, they are constrained by the number of people on contracts and, effectively, they have to learn about each and every player and how they work together.

"We don't have time for that."

Do you see the club appointing a new more permanent manager before the end of the season?

"I think we are at a point where Josh is named as interim. We've got to look at his performance in the way he manages the personalities and the bonding of the team but also at the results.

"If Josh is delivering those we are not going to jump into making an incorrect short-term decision that is going to see exactly the same revolving door that we've seen over the last couple of years.

"We've done it a few times, it's not effective, it's not the type of planning you expect or want to see.

"It's not going to happen this time."
