Former Hereford player Mike McGrath scored at both ends of the pitch for Kettering yesterday.
The midfielder - who only joined the Poppies from Evesham the day before - turned the ball into his own net to put Southport ahead in the 20th minute before netting at the right end seven minutes later. The match ended 1-1.
Elsewhere, league leaders York came from 2-1 down to beat Gloucester 3-2 (Marlon Jackson scored for Gloucester), while Chester saw a bizarre sending off in their match at Spennymoor.
Danny Livesey had just been shown a yellow card for dissent after being told to go off the pitch to receive treatment for a head wound before being being sent off upon his return after apparently not receiving permission from the referee.
Spennymoor won the match 2-1 thanks to a last-gasp goal from Glen Taylor.
