REPORT: Bulls settle for a point at home to Boston

Russell Slade
Hereford drew 0-0 at home to Boston United today in what was Russell Slade’s first game in charge.

In essence, the Bulls were lucky to come away with a point, with Boston having the better of the chances.

Slade was a very animated figure in the dugout, literally kicking every ball.

Because he had only been appointed as First Team Manager on Thursday, Slade left Tim Harris with the task of picking the team today.

And Harris made three changes to the team that got thrashed 4-1 by Chester on Monday. Martin Riley, Jason Pope and Reece Styche all started, with Jared Hodgkiss named as captain in place of Josh Gowling.

Captain Jared Hodgkiss
Hereford had a good opportunity to open the scoring in the seventh minute, but Peter Crook managed to squirm Brad Ash's effort behind for a corner.

At the other end, Simon Ainge nodded a corner wide, while Tom Platt saw a headed saved by Hall.

Hereford were forced to make a change on 28 minutes when the injured Jagger Cane was replaced by Tommy O'Sullivan.

Reece Styche
Raheem Hanley repaced Simeon Maye at the break. However the second half also didn’t see too many chances, although Nicky Walker’s deliveries were very good for Boston.

Handball?
Slade made his third substitution on 62 minutes when Tom Owen-Evans came on for Martin Riley who looked to have hurt his shoulder,

Rowan Liburd and Tommy O’Sullivan had efforts at goal for Hereford, but it was Boston who had the best opportunity 15 minutes from time.

Chance For Boston
Another excellent Walker corner was met by Ainge, but his header was cleared off the line by Keiron Thomas.

Tom Owen-Evans had a late chance for Hereford, but in the end the Bulls had to settle for a point.
