With the news that Hereford head coach Marc Richards is moving on, Ron Parrott has been looking at his record.
"With news of the departure of Marc Richards today, several people
have already asked Club Historian Ron Parrott how his record of games in
charge compares with previous Hereford managers and Ron has commented:-
"Sadly, Marc Richards was not terribly popular
with fans in general and what most people want to hear from me is just
how bad his record was during his time at Edgar Street. However, as the
old saying goes “there are lies, damn lies and statistics!” There is no
doubt that they can sometimes be misleading
as the following shows:-
"Based on League games only, Richards was in charge for 34 matches
and his record was P34 W9 D15 L10 so his percentage of games played
against games won is only 26.5%, which puts him in 20th position in the
league table of the 27 managers we have had in
our history.
"However, if you look at the percentage of games lost under
his command, you could argue that he was one of our better managers
because with only 29.4% lost, he is our fifth best manager
statistically!
No doubt fans will make up their own minds.”
