Newly appointed first team manager at Hereford FC, Russell Slade has had lots of mentions over the years on BN.
Here's a few of them:
May 2015:
Former Hereford United winger Sam Clucas is being tracked by Cardiff City according to the South Wales press.
Cardiff manager Russell Slade is thought to want to add a winger to his squad.
Clucas left Edgar Street for Mansfield Town for a £20,000 transfer fee during the summer of 2013. He moved to Chesterfield in September 2014.
Nov 2014:
Sources close to the club have told BN that Bilal Yafai has been offered a trial with Cardiff City.
Update: Trial confirmed by Cardiff City. Yafai will train with the under 21's 'soon' according to manager Russell Slade.
June 2010:
Former Hereford United defender Tamika Mkandawire is wanted by Swansea City according to this is South Wales.
Mkanawire is out of contract at Leyton Orient.
"We've offered Tam a contract and we would love him to stay at this club," said Orient boss Russell Slade.
"But it's become apparent that there are five or six clubs after him.
"It's a situation where Tam was not going to sign for another year for us.
"We're really disappointed at the loss as he's been a good servant to the club, but he wants Championship football."
April 2010:
Leyton Orient have named Russell Slade as their manager until the end of the season in a bid to avoid relegation to League Two. They currently sit outside the bottom four only on goal difference, with Tranmere holding a game in hand.
Nov 2009:
Brighton have sacked manager Russell Slade after eight months in charge. Only goal difference is currently keeping them out of the relegation zone in League One. He won just nine of 31 games in charge.
May 2009:
Former Bulls physio Wayne Jones has left Yeovil, the club have announced.
Jones went to Huish Park as the last act of the August transfer window claiming to want to be closer to his Kent home, a decision that baffled Graham Turner and most adequate map readers at the time.
He may now follow former boss Russell Slade to Brighton as they have a physio vacancy at present.
Apr 2009:
Brighton and Hove Albion are the visitors to Edgar Street on Tuesday evening and if the Bulls can take all three points from the game it might be enough to ensure the Seagulls play in League Two next season.
Supporters will remember how Brighton pushed the Bulls into the Conference twelve years ago. Tuesday is a chance for at least some revenge. It would even sweeter if Brighton go down and the Bulls stay up but that is probably out of the question.
Brighton manager Russell Slade seems well aware of the position his club are in.
"We can't over estimate the importance of the next two games [against Hereford and Swindon]. I think that they are massive for the football club. Things will really take shape after that and we need to take as many points from those two games as we can," Slade told the Brighton OS.
"We are not scoring away from home and that is the problem at the moment. We need to start doing that because on Tuesday we have to go to Hereford and win. The lack of goals is a massive worry and somebody has got to step up. It is a mental thing not a physical thing. Someone has got to be brave enough to get in the box and put the ball in the net.
Mar 2009:
Russell Slade has given a statement to the official Brighton website which gives his version of events surrounding his departure from Yeovil.
"I want to put the record straight following Yeovil Town's seriously inaccurate statement about me, released on their website last night. Firstly, I want to confirm that at no stage have I ever committed any misconduct at Yeovil Town or indeed at any time in my career.
"Throughout Yeovil's inquiry into this matter, which has been ongoing since November 2008, I have been assured by the LMA's legal team that I have no case to answer and am innocent of any misconduct.
"Having left Yeovil Town on 15th February, I attended an internal hearing with the club on 27 February 2009, during which they backed down and offered me a confidential compensation package with an agreed departure by mutual consent."
Mar 2009:
Russell Slade has been appointed as the new boss at Brighton.
The former Yeovil man has arrived at the Withdean Stadium after both Jim Gannon and Paul Ince turned down the job. Slade left Yeovil two weeks ago after falling out with the club's board, but has only agreed a deal until the end of the current season with the Seagulls.
Mar 2009:
Hereford United travel to Yeovil tomorrow for another League One match and whilst there are no links on the pitch, off the pitch is a different matter.
Yeovil's physio is former Hereford United physio Wayne Jones, whilst Jamie Pitman, now the Bulls' physio, used to play for Yeovil.
Jones moved to Huish Park earlier this season.
Jones's move appeared to come out of the blue. He had been at Edgar Street for four seasons when the physio position at Yeovil became vacant. He took the job saying that it was nearer to his home which is in Kent.
However Jones knew then manager Russell Slade. The two had worked together at Notts County when Slade was manager for a short period in late 1994.
Nov 2008:
Yeovil manager Russell Slade has said that he made an enquiry with Charlton about taking Stuart Fleetwood on loan but was told he had an injury.
The former Hereford United striker has just gone on loan to Brighton after a spell at Cheltenham.
"I made a little enquiry about him (Stuart Fleetwood) to see what was happening and was told he had a bit of a bruised shoulder and wasn’t going to come out at the time. He’s gone out but there’s other things I’m looking at - I never spin just one plate."
Aug 2008:
Secondly Russell Slade for Yeovil (After defeating Hereford)
"It's very demanding to have three games in the opening week of the new season so compliments to the players, they were magnificent.
"We had a purple patch between 10 and 15 minutes in the first half when we put the game to bed.
"The onus was then upon Hereford in the second period to come and have a go at us but they had a little bit of fortune to get back into the game. But I thought we thoroughly deserved our win."
Oct 2007:
Yeovil manager Russell Slade is under no illusion that Hereford will be hoping to register their second win in a cup game over Yeovil Town this evening at Edgar Street.
"It is good to go back and try to bury a ghost and put things right. It will be a good test of character to go back there because they are flying high in the league," Slade told the Western Daily Press.
"They showed enough quality against us (to prove) that they are well capable of performing well in League Two, so to see them in second place is no surprise."
Aug 2007:
"There were a lot of harsh words said at half-time because I was very upset with the performance," said Yeovil manager Russell Slade after losing 4-1 at Hereford.
"It was certainly the worst performance I've had since I've been at Yeovil and probably the worst first half I've had since I've been a manager.
"The display in the first half turned my stomach. I made three substitutions, but I would have made 10 if I could.
"It was totally unacceptable and it wasn't a Russell Slade side out there.
"To be honest if we had performed as badly in the second half I would have offered my resignation."
July 2006:
Yeovil have ended their pursuit of Accrington midfielder Gary Roberts after a third bid was rejected by the Lancashire club.
Boss Russell Slade may now turn his full attention to former Bulls winger Paul Parry, who is believed to be available at Cardiff. Slade also has three other targets to fill the left wing position.
May 2006:
Russell Slade has quit Grimsby Town after failing to agree a new contract.
Slade, the former Scarboro boss who took Grimsby to this years League Two play-off final, rejected Grimsby's offer and gave the board an offer that he would accept. The two parties failed to agree, and the following statement appeared on the official Grimsby website: "It is with regret that the football club has failed to reach a contractual agreement with Russell Slade to be reappointed as the manager of GTFC."
June 2005:
Since Graham Turner stated he was in contact with four possible new signings, speculation has heightened about the possibiltiy of Stacy (or Stacey) Coldicott, just released by Grimsby, being one of them.
Russell Slade, the Grimsby manager, has told BBC Humberside that Coldicott will not feature in his plans for next season after rejecting an offer to stay at the Mariners.
Sept 2003:
Of Scarborough, Turner added: "We're expecting a difficult game because any side that Russell Slade puts out is awkward.
"They haven't had the best of starts picking up a few injuries but they've brought in some new faces much like we did last season."
Mar 2003:
Scarborough manager Russell Slade was involved in a car accident when travelling home to Nottingham after Saturday's 2-1 win over Hereford. His car swerved to miss a lorry, clipped the nearside kerb and then hit a tree before going through a hedge and ended up on its side in a field. Mr Slade was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises.
Sept 2002:
Scarborough boss Russell Slade was delighted with his side's 1-0 win at Hereford United yesterday.
Slade, who has been laid low by a virus this week, was in jubilant form afterwards: "If ever a man needed a tonic it was me," he said. "That was better than all the pills I've been taking."
