REPORT: Wellington 0-4 Hereford

Hereford got their pre-season campaign off to a flier after a Rowan Liburd brace saw them beat near neighbours Wellington 4-0.

Liburd could easily have scored four or five in the end, with the Bulls' class evident throughout the game.

To their credit, Wellington perservered and had chances in the end, but Hereford Head Coach Marc Richards will be happy with how the match went, with a lot of players getting minutes under the belt.

The game started slowly, with both teams struggling to create too many chances. However, after Keyon Reffell went close for Hereford with a deft header, the Bulls started to assert their control on the game.

And they took the lead in the 31st minute. Tom Owen-Evans - who went close minutes earlier with a shot from distance - was upended in the area and a penalty was awarded. Up stepped Reece Styche, who made no mistake.

Hereford then ran away with the game after the break. Liburd made it 2-0 in the 51st minute, tapping home a Keiron Thomas cross from close range before the Bulls marksman added another 14 minutes later; Thomas again doing well on the right-hand side.

Liburd went close to sealing his hat-trick in the 70th minute, but his lofted effort struck the far post before he headed wide from a Jordan Nicholson cross.

In the 76th minute, Paul Jones had a chance for Wellington, but his effort was charged down. Just two minutes later and Hereford made it 4-0.

This time, Alex Bray set up an unnamed trialist, who drilled the ball home.

Liburd once again had a chance to complete his hat-trick eight minutes from time, but he blazed over when well placed.

Overall, it was a comfortable win for Hereford against a side who play four leagues below them. Next up is Cinderford Town on Monday night (7.30pm kick off).
