The news that Gateshead will play in the National North next season has been welcomed by the club. There had been fears they might have dropped down further.
Last month Gateshead were suspended from the National League, fined and deducted nine points after 'multiple' breaches of league rules.
However the club has been taken over by new owners, Neil Pinkerton and Trevor Clark heading a six man consortium. The reign of Dr Ranjan Varghese and Joseph Cala hopefully in the past.
Pinkerton and Clark met with the FA and National League last week and it appears that it was agreed that Gateshead would only drop one division.
According to ChronicleLive, Gateshead will remain full-time with Mike Williamson as player-manager.
The club is expected to stay at the International Stadium.
