Praise For Josh Gowling From The Leamington Manager |
Leamington manager Paul Holleran has spoken about yesterday's game against Hereford which ended 2-2.
"When Hereford went down to ten men we really got on top of the game," said Holleran as reported by the Leamington OS.
"There were lots of balls going into the box. They put in some great
blocks, put their bodies on the line. I thought Josh Gowling was
fantastic for them today.
"First half we were bitterly disappointed, we
didn’t deal with the conditions at all well, Hereford dealt with them
better than us, albeit there wasn’t a lot of quality in the game, but
we’ll look back on the two goals we’ve conceded a will be disappointed.
"The first one, we haven’t dealt with a bread and butter ball, and the
lead up to the penalty…...we’ve just scored to level things up and we
haven’t dealt with the situation well at all. We just needed to get in
the dressing room, get settled down and the momentum was with us then,
but even though the decision was harsh we’ve got ourselves into a mess.
"At half time the emotions are running high then because there’s a big
crowd here, it’s difficult for both sets of players today to get control
of the game, but I thought what helped second half was that the wind
died down and there was a lot more quality in the game.
"Even before the
player got sent off we were doing a lot more probing and pressing, I
thought we managed to get on a lot better, we got in a lot more good
starting positions, and when we managed to get Mikey Taylor down the
middle closer to Colby and Reece it was a case of would it or wouldn’t
it go in. We’ve had so many decent half chances and opportunities but we
haven’t taken them, and fair play to them, they’ve shown great
character and got a lot of blocks and challenges in.
"We’re disappointed not to get a third but when you’re 2-1 down and
against the wind, we showed a lot of character. It was just
disappointing that we didn’t turn all that possession into another goal."
