Hereford Supporters At Nuneaton Last August |
Nuneaton FC are so short of cash that it's not certain they will be able to complete their fixtures this season in the National North.
There are hopes that the club can find ten investors willing to put £10,000 each into the club to keep it alive.
But unless this happens soon, the club may find that matters both on and off the pitch could prove too difficult to solve.
Recently club chairman Nick Hawkins stood down after saying he couldn't take the club any further and manager Jimmy Ginnelly appears to be in charge.
Last week it was reported that baliffs had been at the club in pursuit of money after after a generator was used to power floodlights. It's said the bill is around £10,000.
There is also unpaid tax and national insurance to be settled. This amount is around £30,000 and rising.
On top of that players are owed wages.
Ginnelly is hoping that a trial day will bring in much needed funds.
Players are being asked to put up £50 each to take part in the trial which is on March 5th with the promise of place in the squad for those deemed good enough.
Tomorrow Nuneaton travel to York.
After Hereford had played Nuneaton last August former manager Peter Beadle was asked about how they could be full time on gates of no more than 600.
"We ask lots of
questions like that of these teams who have offered players far more
money than we have and they average 200, 300 people a week," said Beadle.
"Yet they manage
to pay players double what we've offered them or certainly a couple of
hundred pounds more than we're offering which is like huge money and you
wonder where they are getting it from but they are getting it from
somewhere.
"Obviously you never like seeing clubs go under and these have been under twice now.
"You don't want them going down that route again, you want them to survive.
"But sooner or later they've got to learn their lesson, you've got to do it within your means. Otherwise it will keep happening."
