Roberts Aware Hereford Didn't Do Enough Against Kiddy

Hereford goalscorer James Roberts says the players know that they didn't do enough to get anything out of Vanarama National League North game against Kidderminster Harriers on New Year's Day.

Roberts said the Bulls came up against a strong side today, and after Kidderminster went down to ten men there was a great chance for them to push on and get the three points.

"It's a really disappointing overall feeling in the dressing room because we've been in such good form," Roberts said.

"Five wins in our last six, two of them coming in the trophy, a couple in the league and the defeat we didn't feel like we deserved at Bradford.

"Today we came up against a really good team who wanted to get the ball down and pass. Two really good central defenders and midfielders who passed it along for them, but we didn't do enough and we're aware of that.

"Especially when they went down to ten men there was a really good opportunity there to pick up three points, at the very least a point. There is frustration but because of the positive run of results we've been on and the positive performances we've been putting in we're optimistic and already looking ahead to Saturday."

Kidderminster found themselves down to ten men shortly before the half time break after Ryan Johnson was dismissed for an elbow on Tom Owen-Evans.

Roberts felt Hereford should have capitalised on their one-man advantage and look to exploit the aerial capabilities of Mike Symons and Jordan Cullinane-Liburd with crosses into the box

"We didn't make the extra man count and we should've done, whether that be moving the ball from side-to-side quickly or getting crosses into the box for the likes of Symo and Jordan to attack.

"We did wait too long as in the last ten minute we really took the game to them, but we really should've been doing that for the whole 45 minutes of the second half when they were down to ten.

"Albeit their goal was an outstanding strike, it was a one-in-a-million strike, but we didn't do enough to warrant anything out of the game today."

Roberts told Bulls News there was no malice, it was just how the contact was made.
