Bryn Goodall previews the Boxing Day clash with Kidderminster Harriers for Bulls News:
Hereford will be looking to move out of the relegation zone when they welcome neighbours Kidderminster Harriers to Edgar Street on Boxing Day in the first part of the Boxing Day – New Year’s Day double header.
Hereford are unbeaten in their last three home games and Marc Richards’ men will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to high flyers Bradford (Park Avenue) and make it another win at Edgar Street against a strong Kidderminster team.
Richards said after the Bradford game he’s looking forward to the festive fixtures.
“I think all the boys are looking forward to it, and I am as well,” said the Bulls’ Head Coach.
“I just hope they can continue putting in the same sort of performance levels, because if we do, we know we’re capable of beating any team in this league.”
This will be the first time the newly formed club will face Kidderminster in a competitive game. However, the Bulls played the Harriers in a pre-season friendly in the 2016/17 season at the Aggborough Stadium which ended in a 4-1 loss for Hereford.
Prior to Hereford FC, Hereford United faced Kidderminster twice in their last season in the National league. The trip to Kidderminster in 2013, another Boxing Day clash, proved a tough one for manager Martin Foyle and the Bulls lost the game 2-1.
The return game saw current Hereford player Josh Gowling deny the bulls three points through a headed goal for Kidderminster. The game ended 1-1 which was a result the Kidderminster manager was pleased with.
The team proved on Saturday, with their current form and togetherness they can compete against the best in this league, so facing Kidderminster who lie in fifth position in the table shouldn’t prove too much for the boys in white and black.
In regards to team news, Richards said he will “assess any niggles, injuries or knocks” and is hoping Harvey Smith is going to be available after suffering mild concussion in a Bristol City U23 match last week.
It also appears Eliott Richards is nearing full fitness again after warming up with the team before the Bradford game, which will be a big boost to the squad at such an important time in the season.
The team Hereford will be looking to leapfrog to get out of the relegation zone is FC United of Manchester. They face second placed Chorley at home which is sure to be a tough game for them.
