After this afternoon's 2-1 win over Alfreton, Hereford striker Mike Symons spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester.
Symons scored Hereford's first goal.
"When they scored with five minutes to go I thought hear we go again," said Symons.
"But we managed to dig deep and get another attack and get the penalty and a great finish by James (Roberts).
"It's a massive result for us because I don't think we deserved to lose the game. I know maybe at times it wasn't the best football on show from both teams but it shows that we've ground it out and sometimes an ugly win is one of the better wins.
"I thought first half we had a good spell, getting the ball out wide to George and Kyle who were causing problems with their pace and energy.
"Got the goal and that eased us down a bit. Then a sloppy five minutes before half-time where we were a bit cagey."
Alfreton were a big side but with little footballing skill.
"If you look at the size difference between the two, they had five or six big centre-halves so they are a physical side. They go quite direct.
"But it was an all round team performance today and we all dug in.
"It's nice to get the three points and hopefully that's pushes us up in the right direction."
Symons was brought down inside the box and substitute James Roberts converted the penalty.
"I was going to step up as I'd won the penalty but I had hurt my leg a bit so I let James have it - he's scored a couple of goals already since he's been at the club so I had faith in him.
"A great strike into the bottom corner. Even though the keeper went the right way there was too much power in it. Fair play to James that was a pressure penalty with a minute to go but it got us three points."
There were a few fiesty moments.
"I think Alfreton at times were a bit frustrated, I think the referee made some decisions and towards the end he was trying to even it up a bit. May be that spilled over into the action at the end.
"They dropped a couple of players, one behind me and one in front so they were expecting a battle.
"I quite like those sort of challenges."
It was a definite penalty?
"I was the right side of him and I was going to bring it down but he was holding me and blatently pushing me.
"Great to get the penalty and the three points."
O'Sullivan replaced McGrath this afternoon.
"It was pretty much the same shape as we played against FC last week and second half we blew them away. Obviously the boys know their roles and responsibilities in that as well so the one change with Tommy coming in.
"He came on last Saturday and scored so great for him.
"You can see the youth we've got, it quite nice to have those boys alongside me as they've run all day, they work hard and they are hungary which is fantastic.
"We've got a bit of everything at the moment and it's about being consistant now and pushing up the league."
