A foul on Mike Symons in the box led to James Roberts scoring the only goal in yesterday's game |
Kidderminster Harriers manager Neil MacFarlane left Edgar Street yesterday very disappointed and without the three points his side had intended to pick up.
Harriers proved a tough test for Hereford, but James Roberts' penalty in the 80th minute was enough to overcome the Reds.
"Very disappointed, we came here obviously with the intention of getting three points under our belt and it's not worked out that way," MacFarlane told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"I thought first half we were in control of the game, it's a derby and it's a difficult place to come. I thought second half we didn't get to our levels both with and without the ball."
Mike Symons was adjudged to have been fouled by Ryan Johnson as he tried to bring down Danny Greenslade's cross.
MacFarlane said Harriers got caught out with a soft penalty and had told his side at the break not to give away so many free kicks.
"In possession we were quite sloppy at times and then we got caught out with a moment, which when I've looked at it back, he's won the penalty rather than given it away," MacFarlane added.
"My opinion is that it was soft, but as I said to them at half time when they were getting the ball into wider areas they were looking for free kicks, looking for those moments to put us under pressure from the directness of it coming in.
"I said to them at half time not to give fouls away. It's just really disappointing to lose a game that way because it's been a feature over the last three games we're not conceding to a lot of opportunities from the opposition in open play.
"Yes, as I said, in the second half we can do better on the ball but we still created a few moments as well where we should've scored."
