Ryan Green was feeling under the weather this week so didn't feature yesterday |
It's been three weeks since Ryan Green last started a game for Hereford, but Head Coach Marc Richards insists that the veteran defender isn't going anywhere.
Richards said that Green missed both training sessions last week due to an illness and as a result was feeling lethargic.
"Ryan has been ill all week, he hasn't been there Tuesday or Thursday for training," Richards told BN.
"He's been really struggling, he was like 'I'll play if you need me to play' but I thought because he's been ill all week he'll have no energy, and he said that.
"He just felt lethargic. Him not being in the squad today is because he's been ill all week."
When asked if Green remains part of his plans, Richards said: "Yeah 100%, Ryan's not going anywhere, or at least I hope not anyway."
Another player that supporters are asking about is midfielder Eliot Richards. The last time he played was in the 3-1 loss to Boston in October, but the Welshman has been an unused substitute for the games against Southport and Darlington this month.
Like new signing James Wesolowski who felt his hamstring in training last week, Richards isn't quite fit so wasn't risked by Richards yesterday.
"A little bit similar to James' in terms of not far from being fit," he added.
"Probably could've risked 20 or 30 minutes off the bench, but if we can get through today, Guiseley, he'll be fully fit and available for selection.
"We want him to be a big part of what we're doing."
Pleased with the win over Alfreton, a lighthearted Marc Richards was asked if Guiseley have a hard game in the FA Cup against Fleetwood on Monday evening, whether that could work Hereford's way.
"Saying that, some of the luck that's gone our way has been like a travelator at times. You bring in a new signing and he tweaks his hammy on the Thursday, you have the scenarios where you red cards rescinded.
"I'm not chucking excuses because I'm the last one to do that, but it's been a tough one.
"Fingers crossed we can kick on now."
