The Hereford United player who scored a unique hat trick

On this day 25 years ago. Hereford United striker Chris Pike completed the remarkable feat of scoring a hat trick against three different goalkeepers.

Pike opened the scoring on 28 minutes scoring a header against John Keeley.  Fourteen minutes later Keeley was dismissed for a professional foul on Chris Fry, and the legendary hardman Roy McDonough, who was the U's Player Manager went in goal ahead of a half time reshuffle. Pike duly dispatched the penalty. Sub goalkeeper Nathan Munson then went in the nets, and Pike completed his hat trick on 51 minutes from close range.

Chris Fry then made it 4-0 on 64 minutes, then Munson was dismissed for bringing down captain Derek Hall. McDonough then went back in goal, and Hall made it 5-0 just before full time. A truly bizarre game.
