It Was A Soft Penalty Said Jenkins

Hereford's assistant manager Steve Jenkins said that the penalty given in Newport County's favour this afternoon was soft.

Newport took the lead two minutes before the break after Keiran Thomas was adjudged to have brought down Dan Butler, leaving Antoine Semenyo with the job of scoring from the spot.

Jenkins said: "The players are adamant that it wasn't a penalty, Keiran [Thomas] hasn't even touched him. The boy's chopped back on him and it did look a little bit soft if I'm honest, but it's given and we can't do anything about that.

"It's a disappointment to concede in the 43rd minute, because even though we hadn't played on the front foot we'd almost seen the first half out."

Keiran Thomas echoed the thoughts of Steve Jenkins, but was pleased with how the team performed in the second half.

The former Gloucester City captain said: "I thought it was very soft, but that's all I'm going to say, a poor decision if you ask me.

"They were a good side and it was a game of two halves. We did really well in the second half but in the first we struggled a little bit, it was just a shame to concede so late on."
