Staunton
& Corse FC is looking for footballers to join our over-fifties
sides for next season. Currently, we play in the Gloucestershire FA
Super Veterans seven-a-side League. This takes the format of a monthly
tournament, in which six teams play two games each of 30 minutes between
11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. on Sundays at Tewkesbury School on a 3G pitch
with qualified referees taking charge of games.
We’ve
now finished our league fixtures, finishing fifth out of six teams, but
have a cup tournament on Sunday 29th April at Tewkesbury School to
complete the season.
Starting
next season, in addition to the participating in the seven-a-side
league, we hope to join the Worcestershire FA over-fifties eleven-a-side Super-Vets League which consists of three weekly games usually taking place on Sunday mornings; however
the league let the teams decide between themselves on a suitable
kick-off time and day within a two week period, so it should be possible
to schedule our games around existing Veterans and Super Veterans
fixtures enabling players to participation in various completions!
Games
are 11-a-side, over 40 minutes, with up to six substitutes, with some
games on grass and others on all-weather surfaces. We expect to play our
home games at Staunton but will have to travel as far as Bromsgrove for
away games.
