Trophy Preview From Wealdstone

Wealdstone FC have posted an excellent preview of Saturday's FA Trophy game against Hereford.

Here's an edited version:

We welcome Hereford to The Vale for a Buildbase FA Trophy 2nd Round tie this Saturday (13 Jan) kick-off 15:00.

This will be our first meeting with Hereford FC who were formed in 2014 following the demise of Hereford Utd.

Our visitors are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Evo-Stick South Premier on 56 points from 24 games having won 17 , drawn 5 and lost 2, scoring 62 and conceding 21 goals. On Tuesday they picked up another away win 2-1 at Stratford Town. In the Buildbase FA Trophy the ‘Bulls’ started in the 1st Qualifying Round  with a 4-1 home win over Weymouth at the end of Oct. In the 2nd Qualifying Round they defeated Potters Bar Town away 2-1 in a replay having drawn 0-0 in the original tie. The 3rd Qualifying Round, on the 25 Nov, saw  a 2-1 win at VNLS side Oxford City and in the 1st Round proper they defeated National League side Dagenham & Redbridge at home 3-2.

The Stones Management team and squad know they will be in for another intriguing  afternoon come 15:00 on Saturday as they look to progress in the Buildbase FA Trophy competition. The loss of the league game last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch at Havant & Waterlooville  has allowed the squad some unexpected recuperation and additional preparation time ahead of  Saturday’s tie.

Whilst we face a  ‘new’ Hereford team  on Saturday it would be remiss if we didn’t mention our previous encounter back in 1977  in the FA Cup. Drawn at home in the 1st Round the teams played out a 0-0 draw in front of 2,603 fans at Lower Mead on Sat 26 Nov, then to Edgar Street on Wed 30 Nov for the replay where the Stones recorded a historic 3-2 win to set-up a 2nd Round (home) tie versus Reading (which was won 2-1, before bowing out to then 1st Division side Queens Park Rangers in the 3rd Round in early Jan 78).

This match will be deemed fully segregated and Pay on the Day.
Match day Admission: Adults – £13,  Concession – £9 (over 65 & students with ID), Under 18s – £3. (Our Premiership/English Football League Season Ticket offer and  Armed Services discount does NOT apply to this game). Turnstiles will be open from 13.30.

Hereford  supporters are asked to enter the stadium via Turnstiles One, Two and Three which are situated at the entrance to the site. Covered standing terrace behind the goal in the Ruislip Windows and Doors West Stand, along with covered standing on the side of the clubhouse and seating for 75 (on a first come first served basis) will be available. A mobile catering unit offering hot food and drinks will be provided along with toilet facilities.

Supporters from both clubs are reminded that no musical instruments, trumpets, drums, horns etc. are allowed into the stadium and no alcohol can be consumed within the stadium.

Directions to The Vale, Grosvenor Vale, Ruislip HA4 6JQ can be found  HERE
Car users are asked to use the side streets near to the ground but please do not block driveways or access for emergency vehicles, especially within Grosvenor Vale and Cranley Drive.

Should a replay be necessary following Saturday’s game it will take place on Tue 16 Jan at Edger Street, Hereford, HR4 9JU, kick -off 19:45.
