Club Historian Ron Parrott has been speaking to Stewart Phillips
about his memories of Cyrille, with whom he played at West Bromwich
Albion and Stewart commented: “How lucky am I to be able to say that I
had the privilege of playing up front with this guy. He was a
magnificent footballer but so humble too, in fact he’s one of the nicest
men I’ve ever met in football. Rest in peace Cyrille.”
The photograph shows Stewart with Cyrille, reunited at the 2016
documentary all about West Brom’s testimonial game for Len Cantello back
in 1979, when controversially, a team of all-white players took on a
team of all-black players.
The team photo shows Stewart Phillips in the
back from, fifth from the left and first on the left in the front row is
another Hereford United star, Winston White, sitting next to Cyrille
Regis. On the far right is Valmore Thomas, Hereford United’s Bermudian
international full-back.”
