Ben Chilman previews this afternoon's game:
Slough is home to Europe’s biggest trading estate and Mars Bars, but today Hereford travel to Arbour Park in one of the more crucial January games.
The Bulls come into the match from a high-scoring game against Redditch United in which both teams missed chances and gifted goals - but Hereford came out on top, winning the game 5-2.
Pablo Haysham celebrating after his first goal on New Year's Day |
Pablo Haysham, who was man of the match, returned to the score sheet with a fine brace which included a lovely strike from 25 yards in what may prove to be a contender for goal of the season.
John Mills scored two goals and Lance Smith got one to complete the scoring in what had been an impressive attacking display from the home side. Another injury cropped up during the game, as Keyon Reffell was brought off early on after turning his ankle in the warm up.
Cameron Pring is still available to play as his loan spell has not yet finished, but there's been no news on any extension to Dara O’Shea's deal which expired after Monday's game. Both Beadle and West Bromwich Albion are thought to be in talks to extend his loan if the full-back is keen to stay for the rest of the season. Staying in defence, Ryan Green was ill over New Year, but is likely to have recovered in time for this weekend’s trip.
Slough started 2018 with an agonising draw to Chesham United in which new signing Ben Harris scored on his debut. The Rebels were leading 1-0 until Chesham scored an equaliser in stoppage time to deny the away side three points.
The Rebels normal striking partnership of Chris Flood and Brad Wadkins, who have 24 goals between them this season, may well be interrupted by the new signing Ben Harris. He joins from Ascot United where he’s been playing to regain match fitness after returning from a two-year spell in New Zealand.
Attacking midfielders James Dobson and Matthew Lench will likely start and look to provide the breakthrough for the Berkshire side.
While the Bulls may have looked slightly ropey defensively on New Year’s Day, the possible return of Ryan Green will help shore up the back four.
Hopefully Hereford can return from Berkshire having claimed all three points against one of their promotion rivals.
