It`s now five games without a win at the wrong time for the Terras, who could have gone joint second with a victory.
They fell behind after 25 minutes when Dunstable winger Ryan Young went down the right and played the ball in and, alhough there was no-one in the box, the ball flew in off the far post.
The Terras came close to equalising 4 minutes before the break when Josh Carmichael smacked an effort against the post.
However, on 65 minutes, the Blues doubled their lead when some indifferent defending left Dunstable`s Arel Amu with an easy tap-in.
But on 72 minutes, Calvin Brooks headed the visitors back into the game.
And then in stoppage time only a wonder save from the Duns` Casey Harker denied Brandon Goodship an equaliser.
All that was very bad news for bottom-markers Gosport Borough after they were mauled 5-1 at Privett Park by a now eighth-placed Chesham United side, who are just three points behind the play-off places.
The visitors eased into a 2-0 lead, courtesy of David Hutton after 25 minutes and Lewis Toomey 3 minutes later.
The experienced Craig McAllister pulled one back with the club’s first goal since Alex Pike returned as boss last month 3 minutes into the second half.
But any hopes of Boro getting anything out of the game were quickly extinguished as Chesham cruised to victory with further goals from Jefferson Louis from the penalty spot on the hour-mark, a second for Toomey on 69 minutes and then Jhai Dhillon 5 minutes from time.
The evening`s other game saw surprise package Royston Town move to within a point of the top five with a 2-1 Garden Walk victory over neighbours St Neots Town.
The Crows had a great start with a goal inside the opening 8 minutes from John Frendo.
Lee Chappell then doubled the home side`s advantage 8 minutes later.
Lewis Irwin `won` the second half for the Saints with a 74th minute reply, but they weren`t able to find an equaliser.
