Banbury manager Mike Ford has given more details of his time when he lived in Hereford and became a ball boy at Edgar Street.
Tomorrow he takes his team to the ground for what he says is similar to an away FA Cup game.
"I moved to Hereford as a youngish child," Ford told Puritans Radio.
"My dad was youth football team coach at the football club.
"Once I got towards double figures I wanted to be a ball-boy and I supported the team.
"One season they played in the Championship as opposed to non-league football ten years prior.
"It was a really good time to be involved in the club. I can still remember some of the names of the players who were on the pitch at the time.
"My Dad ended up becoming assistant then taking over the team for a three month care-taker period.
"It has fond memories for me, fabulous time in my youth, long long time ago.
"It's probably the one game I looked forward to at the start of the season. When the fixtures came out when are we going to Edgar Street. When are we going to be pitting our wits against the top team in this division.
"I played there once, 87 I think, when I was with Cardiff. We went thereand beat Hereford 2-1. It was a really important result I remember as we were getting towards getting a promotion. That just pushed us across the line almost.
"But no not been back since, it's been a long time.
"I would imagine it's not changed much.
"In some ways it's such a shame a club with the level it played at ended up dropping into non-league football and ended up going bust and having to reform. Currently management doing a great job there.
"It's a massive game of football for us. It is different tomorrow afternoon, playing in front of 2,500 people.
"Some of my players may never have played in front of that size of crowd and some may never play in front of that size of gate again.
"It's a special day, the feel of a FA Cup game away from home, against a team from a League above but you think you've got a chance and that's how we will approach the game."
