Preview: Fleetwood Town vs Hereford

As usual, Ben Chilman previews tomorrow's game:

In case you haven't heard,  Hereford travel to Fleetwood for a second round FA Cup tie tomorrow. 90 league places separate the two sides with Fleetwood currently 10th in League One.

Last weekend Oxford City became the third team from a higher division to be knocked out of a cup competition by Hereford this season. The Bulls progressed to the first round proper of the FA Trophy thanks to goals from John Mills and Dara O’Shea giving a 2-1 win to the away side.

While the Whites have had a rare midweek break they face a busy schedule up until Christmas with seven games lined up. This includes the next round of the FA Trophy which is a home tie against National League side Dagenham and Redbridge.

Earlier this week Pete Beadle was asked how the injuries and cup tied players would be affecting this weekend’s squad.

He said: "It does alter it a little bit, so we’ll have to change things around. As we saw Saturday with whatever XI we put out, we’re always quite strong.

"We changed it again [on Saturday], made two or three changes and we beat a team from the league above.

"It’s a nice little cup run to be on at the moment."

The Bulls have the usual gathering of injuries for the 162 mile north trip, as Mike McGrath and Tyrone Duffus are still carrying knocks. Cameron Pring and Eliot Richards are both cup tie.

Calvin Dinsley and Pablo Haysham might be in contention for a place as they return form injury, and Ryan Green is likely to return to the starting XI.

Fleetwood will look to reach the Third Round of the FA Cup for only the third time in their history but Uwe Rosler’s side have hit a poor run of from in front of goal in their last few games. The Cod Army have failed to score in three of their last four and are without a win since their last game in the Cup; the 2-1 win at Chorley.

While they have kept consecutive clean sheets at home with the latest being a drab goalless draw against local rivals Blackpool, Rosler has admitted the side need find goals at the other end of the pitch.

Number 44 Devante Cole, son of former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole, scored in the last round and is likely to feature. Midfielder Aiden O’Neill said earlier in the week how Fleetwood are not taking the Bulls lightly.

The pitch at Highbury is narrower than what the Bulls are used to at Edgar Street, so this may affect Beadle’s selection. As Symons played so well in the last round, he may be handed his first start since 11th November.
