The financial problems at Merthyr have been well documented here and elsewhere. Yesterday their development side travelled to Chesham and lost 13-1 as most of their senior players have left with Eliot Richards set to sign for Hereford.
Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke about Merthyr in his post-match interview.
Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke about Merthyr in his post-match interview.
"I don't know the whole ins and outs," said Beadle.
"I know they've gone to Chesham with a really young side by the sounds of it.
"I don't understand why because I think they could have put out a stronger side today.
"They gave us a lot of help when we reformed so it's a sad state of affairs for them. We just hope that they can come through it and we go there on Boxing Day so hopefully we can give them a big helping hand in them getting back on track.
"It won't solve their problems but it might help.
"I'm sure they would like a capacity crowd on Boxing Day and a competitive game and everybody go there in good spirits and hopefully we can help them out.
"Outside of that we don't know what the problems are, all we can do is do our part as they did for us when we reforming.
"We will give them any help we can."
With the signing of Richards does that mean that Peter Beadle currently have a large enough squad?
"We're always looking," said Beadle.
"We're not looking for anyone in particular but we're always looking in case something raises its head.
"You
are always looking to strengthen, you never know what is around the
corner, you don't know whether you will pick up any more injuries or
whatever, or anything long term.
"But I wouldn't say we are actively looking to bring anybody in."
