Peter Beadle Was Interviewed By BT Sport Before Speaking To The Local Media |
"I think in football terms it's been a great day for us," said Beadle.
"In terms of games played it's parallel to the FA Vase run, it's got to be as we are now in the Second Round of the FA Cup which is a fantastic achievement."
There was a red card for a Telford player in the second half.
"It seemed a heavy challenge. Obviously it was a long way from us. The fact that both sets of players reacted in the way they did obviously it was a bad one. The referee dealt with it as he thought but it certainly changed the tide of the game in the fact that I thought first half we could have been two behind. Almost like we played with a bit of fear, we looked a bit nervous.
"But then as the game wore on we grew into the game a little bit and we started to get a little bit more possession and a bit closer to them.
"We talked at half-time about being on the front foot and I thought we did it great second half. We imposed ourselves a little bit more on them which was important and then after the decision the game opened up and I thought we took more control of the game then.
"Once the sending off happened it was one way traffic until the very end and we were fortunate enough to get the goal.
"It was a great strike (by Haysham). The ball again, I do question those footballs, those balls are all over the place. You could tell by the way the keeper dived and then went back on himself to get his hands to it.
"Great strike in the first place and then John was on hand, I think Mike was pretty close but I think John got there before him and did what he does ever so well.
"He's been great the last couple of games, he really has. I'm sure people will have noticed the bit more workrate he's putting in and he's slowly coming around to doing a bit more, he's been fantastic the last couple of games.
"He's on a good run in the Cup, he's scored a lot of goals in the Cup this year.
"It was nice to get that goal and you'd have loved to have that a second to give you a bit of breathing space as even with ten men I thought they will still dangerous.
"I'm sure Rob (Telford manager) will be really disappointed because they were in control really and we've rode our luck but you need a bit of luck in these competitions."
Mike McGrath missed the game as he has a possible fracture in his leg. His replacement Calvin Dinsley had to be subbed in the first half after he, once again, felt his hamstring.
"Again we look at the team today and it was fairly strong. Dinsley was a gamble playing him as he's been out for three weeks with a hamstring. He only trained on Thursday but he trained well so we had to play him. We wanted that pace out wide with Keyon and Gary so we took a gamble but he had to go off early and Keyon had to go back inside. So really we've played with a makeshift midfield again.
"Mike with no one around him just gets his studs caught in the astroturf in the 3G, twisted it and heard a bit of a crack so we are just waiting. It's still quite swollen. He's going back for a second x-ray tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't too bad but you are looking at probably six weeks if not more with him.
"It's just a shame and with Dinsley and his hamstring, he could be a couple of weeks. All of a sudden we find ourselves a little bit light on the ground.
"So to do what we've done today with a little bit of a makeshift midfield was brilliant."
Beadle was asked about the record crowd which was just over 4700 and the noise they made.
"Like as they were at Eastleigh and again today.
"I do understand like when we played Dunstable and the expectation of can we rattle in a dozen goals so the crowd are quiet until we get the goal I understand that.
"Sometimes I think they know how much they mean to the players, to the team and what they can do for us as a team when they get like they were today from the very start.
"Even when Telford had their spell first half they were great and really positive. Perhaps sometimes the players should take a leaf out of their book and be as positive as the crowd. They were brilliant again today and let's hope they all turn up for Tenbury on Tuesday." (lots of laughter)
So who does Beadle want in the second round?
"We don't mind, I think it's still League One and Two. A home draw if we can and we would love to test ourselves against League opposition that would be the bonus. There's a few that have gone today but the looks of it. Maidstone have won at Cheltenham so we would love a home game and a League side because we want to play the best teams and challenge ourselves and see where we are.
"We want to play here, the theatre of dreams, Edgar Street, with all that FA Cup history and the stuff that goes with it. What are you laughing at I'm serious!. This is where it all happens for us. This is where we come to play and this is where we want to be.
"Anything at home would be perfect."
