Lance Smith scored his first League hat-trick for Hereford in their 5-0 win over Hitchin this afternoon. Afterwards he talked to BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"Playing in front of all those people and scoring just one goal is good but three is amazing," said Smith.
"There were a couple of minutes when we switched off a little bit but all in all there was a strong performance from everyone from front to back.
"The first one was a nice little finish but my favourite was probably the second, a flick in the corner.
"A good team performance today."
Smith and fellow striker John Mills appear to be forming a good partnership.
"He's had a few chances today, he'll come and knock three or four in next game. We'll take it in turns.
"Today I thought was a really big game. We had a lot of cup games but this is what we are here for, promotion. The cups are a bonus. The league is what we need.
"The two new lads that came in today have done well. It was good all round today.
"We went in at half-time 3-0 up. We couldn't take them lightly.
"The football was really good today, enjoyable."
Hereford have another home match on Tuesday.
"We need six points out of these two games. We've just got to keep going. This league is want we want, to get promotion."
