Hereford players celebrating Keyon Reffell's goal against Hornchurch in the last round |
Today's the day. Can the Bulls cause an upset? Ben Chilman previews this afternoon's FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie.
The Bulls come into the game on the back of two league wins in the last week. Firstly, on Saturday the Bulls ran out 4-1 winners against Dorchester town after trailing 1-0 at the break. With a much improved second half and the Bulls playing down the slope at Edgar Street, the four goals came from Lance Smith, Keyon Reffell and a John Mills brace.
Smith’s shot from the edge of the area took a deflection to loop over Dorchester’s keeper before Mills added another well taken penalty.
Reffell then had a good solo run which finished in a goal for the former Merthyr man who ended up collecting the man of the match award at the end of the game. Mills then chopped left and right inside the box before finishing across the keeper to make it 4-1.
With Symons, Haysham and Page all getting a run out, the latter went on to hit the crossbar in the dying stages of the game.
The Bulls then travelled to Banbury Tuesday night to play the 11th placed side in the league. Beadle made two changes to the side with McGrath and Page coming in for Dinsley and Preen, who are thought to be carrying knocks.
Reffell continued his fine form and grabbed the only goal of the game. The striker dealt with Ryan Green’s long range pass superbly to turn and finish right into the corner of the net.
Eastleigh, a Hampshire side, based near Southampton are currently sat 18th in the Vanarama National League, formally known as the Conference.
Known as the Spitfires, Eastleigh manager Richard Hill is in his second spell at the club. Hill, a former Northampton, Watford and Oxford player, was in charge when the club made it to this level in 2014 for the first time in their history.
Eastleigh are now a well-established Conference side with many rumours about the money they invest into the team and the budget they’ve got.
In form striker Ben Williamson, number 25, has grabbed five goals so far this season. Defender Ayo Obileye has also contributed to the goal count with three and will remain a constant threat from set pieces.
Hereford fans will be able to purchase tickets on the day and while there will be no bar facilities available for the away supporters, they have advised the closest pub, the Cricketers, SO53 3HN.
If you are making the 123 mile trip down to the south coast, the post code for the ground is SO50 9HT with turnstiles opening at 1:30pm.
And finally, COYW!
