Given the aim of promotion from the Southern League, Hereford FC have decided not to take part in this season's Southern League Challenge Cup.
Which is why the club doesn't have a mid-week evening fixture this week.
Nearly all the other Southern Prem clubs have round one games either tonight, tomorrow or Wednesday evening.
For example Hereford's opponents on Saturday, Dorchester Town are at home to Salisbury this evening.
So how did Hereford manage not to be involved in this cup?
They had to pay the Southern League £200 not to play.
Whilst the first round ties are regional, that won't be the case later on in the competition. So, should Hereford have progressed, it might have meant a long trip on a bus perhaps costing as much as £500, and players having to ask for time off work. There's also the risk of injury or suspension.
It's probably £200 very well spent.
