Preview: Hereford vs Godalming Town

Ben Chilman previews today's game against step five side Godalming:

Today, the Bulls host Godalming Town at Edgar Street in the FA Cup first qualifying round.

Bulls defender Ryan Green will be back in contention for a place in the side, after having a successful cortisone injection for his Achilles injury.

In an interview earlier this week with Radio Hereford FC, Green, who's now in his ninth season with the Bulls, revealed that it is his dream to finish his career with Hereford, back in the Conference.

The defender thanked all those who helped donate towards his injection and said: “I’d like to feel I could keep playing until I’m 40.”

However, Bulls loanee Dara O’Shea will miss the game through suspension but could be involved with international duty elsewhere.

He will team up with the Republic of Ireland under 19 squad to face back-to-back matches with the Czech Republic in Waterford on Saturday and Monday. O’Shea will be back for the Bulls trip to Royston next Saturday.

The Bulls go into the game after a pleasing bank holiday weekend, with a win away at St Neots and a draw at home to Merthyr. Bulls new signing Gethyn Hill made a good start with a well taken goal against Merthyr, but he'll be unavailable today due to the arrangements of his loan with Weston-super-Mare.

Godalming come into the game on the back of a slight dip in form with two home defeats which includes a derby day loss to Guildford in their last fixture. Simon Funnel’s team will be hoping Hakim Griffiths can deliver another man-of-the-match display after an impressive game in their previous round.

Godalming supporters are being treated to free travel to Edgar street for the 266-mile round trip. The transport offer is a“good will gesture” by the club for the support they have given the team, with the coaches set to leave at 8am.

The match at Edgar Street, 3pm kick off, is priced at £10 Adult, £9 Concession in Seating and £9 Adult, £8 Concession on the Terraces. All Under 18 tickets will be £1.

Should a replay be required, tickets will be £6 Adults, £4 Concessions, and £1 Under 16s at Godalming’s Wey Court home on Tuesday, September 5th (7.45pm).
