Front Four Were Constant Threat Said Beadle

The Two Managers
After Hereford defeated Godalming 8-0 in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round, manager Peter Beadle spoke to the media.

"Finishing was a bit off at times," said Beadle

"We have said over the last couple of home games in the League we haven't created a hugh amount of chances but I thought the front four today were a constant threat.

"On another day it could have been a lot more. We've had something 42/48 shots and possibly a few more.

"What more do you want?

"We couldn't have had it any easier. We had it at home. Four minutes into the game the keeper has been sent off. Harshly maybe but the letter of the law says he has handballed it so he's got to go.

"We score straight from the free kick and then after that it's a case that if we could have a bit more quality, a bit more clinical in the final third we could give ourselves a little confidence boost.

"I thought we did that because second half we didn't step off, we kept the intensity quite high and we scored some good goals today."

Beadle was asked what the referee had said about the sending off.

"I don't know, I haven't asked him.

"They said something about if he had been the last man but there were eight players around him and it was passed back to him and he picked it up outside the box.

"I don't know how the law exactly is. And I'm gutted for them given they've travelled so far with a fighting chance  but to have the keeper sent off after four minutes made it an uphill battle."

Garyn Preen was Beadle's man of the match.

"He was a constant threat. I thought he created quite a lot of chances and he got one himself which was nice for him to get off the mark. He showed what he is capable of. It's up to him now to do that on a consistant basis.

"Like I said the front four did okay, looked quite bright and created a few chances. On another day could have had a couple more for themselves."

Ryan Green returned to the heart of defence after missing two games.

Ryan Green
"Ryan is a good player and you miss good players.

"We had seven players out today. Gethin was not available, Symons and O'Shea suspended, Dinsley, Deaman and Smith not fit.

"When you look who we have to come back, it's highly promising. As soon as they are back it will be the same for everybody.

"Great to have Ryan back as he brings an air of calmness about him in the way he plays and defends.

"He's missed a few weeks but it was an ideal game to bring him back as they were not hughly tested once the sending off happened and we got ourselves a couple up. A good game for him to feel his way in and we'll see how much reaction he has tomorrow."

It's Royston away next Saturday. Will the win help confidence?

"We've still got to create those chances, we had 48 shots on goal and we've won the game 8-0 but they had ten men and sometimes it's not easy to play against ten men.

"Obviously the pressure was on us, we were at home and expected to win but we still performed to a level that was more than adequate and I though we looked nice and bright and it was exactly what we needed after a little disappointment last Monday with all the possession we had and not getting the points out of the game and struggling to get back in it.

"This is a timely boost for us and just what we needed."

The Godalming captain, Lewis Taylor, took over in goal after Aaron Bufton was sent off.

"I thought it was a flip-off between him and Preen for man of the match. He was their man of the match. And the big fellow up top who kept going without much joy but he kept going.

"That's what you want from your captain. You ask him to put the armband on and lead by example and he did that today, Credit to him I thought he was excellent."
