Eight Goals - We'll Take That Said Haysham

Pablo Haysham Along With Keith Hall
After this afternoon's 8-0 FA Cup win over Godalming, Hereford's Pablo Haysham spoke to Keith Hall for BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Hall began by asking if Haysham had ever been in a more one-sided match.

"It's up there with the most one-sided," said Haysham.

"Obviously the red card played a big part but having said that we started quite brightly in those opening two or three minutes and even in the warm-up it was feeling good so we would have had a great game either way but it played a bit of a part in the game.

"I'm not sure if he was (the last man) but he was definitely out of the box. His feet were on the line and his hands were in front of it. But there were a lot of bodies there. We might have tapped it in or they might have got a block.

"The referee made the decision and when you look back at it on the video it will be a bit clearer but they haven't got that time to think. But it was definitely handball."

Haysham played upfront with John Mills.

"I'm not going to lie about it but I love playing up there. But in a team with this much talent you've got to be fortunate to get in wherever you can.

"I did my best today as I do every week but a bit more special to play upfront. I think I did a half-decent job up there and I really enjoyed it."

Haysham scored two of the eight goals, one a cracking header.

"To be fair a good ball from Bowen, he put plenty on it. I had to keep it down but there were some good crosses in there and it was nice to get on the end of one.

"I think a big part of it is that we haven't had a game that's been so open for a while in which we get so many clear cut chances so I think especially in the first half there was a little bit of snatching at it which is normal but halftime we had a good chat about just trying to relax.

"It's going to happen. It's the first game like that. Overall if you look at 8-0 it's not a bad result. But we want to improve every time and do everything a bit better if we can. If we could have finished a couple more chances it would have been a fairer reflection of the game but overall eight goals we'll take that."

With players returning from injury shortly, there will be plenty of competition for places.

"It's like that every week there are so many good players. We've got a couple out injuried and great players sat on the bench. George Hayes came on, a young lad who has a really bright future. It was good to see him get some minutes.

"There is a lot of competition when you go out there, so when you get a start you want to keep it."

With Royston next week and more players available Peter Beadle will have several options especially in attack.

"That's what we want, everyone is pushed by that. The lads who have come in have been fantastic. Dara has been outstanding. the lads who are coming back will drive everyone on. Hopefully we can compete for places. When we do get the chance, take it."
