With just two games to go in the 1980/81 season and Hereford United bottom of the Fourth Division, the board of directors decided to put season tickets on sale.
Just 2101 had watched a 1-1 draw against Peterborough the previous Saturday, May 2nd.
"Season tickets for seats in the wing sections of the Len Weston grandstand can now be obtained at a bargain price of £30 for next season if they are booked before 1st June and there is also a reduction from £38 to £35 for the centre block seats.
"Seats in the main Merton grandstand have been priced at £40 for the 1981/82 campaign if also purchased before 1st June. Postal bookings will be accepted if the correct remittance and a stamped addressed envelope is sent to the club secretary Mr Peter Grange.
"There is likely to be an increase in the price of all tickets after June 1st if the Football League decide to put up the minimum admission charge when they hold their annual meeting on June 5th, and the Board of Directors will not announce the full range of season ticket prices until the following week."
Fast forward for contrast. Seated season tickets will cost £207 for the club's first season in the Southern League Premier Division.
