Former Hereford United player Gary Bowyer was a Wembley winner this afternoon. His Blackpool side defeated Exeter 2-1 to earn promotion to League One. Gary made 14 league appearances for the Bulls in the 1989/1990 season. One of those games was away at Scunthorpe on the 25th April. Gary scored a last minute goal to earn a 3-3 draw.
This match was famous due to the fact Gary's and his father Ian (The Hereford manager at the time) played in that game. The first time a father and son had appeared in a football league match together since 1951, and this scenario has yet to be repeated. You can view the footage here.
