Jonathan Sandford has been watching both Chelsea and England recently and he feels the formation of their respective teams could be followed by Hereford manager Peter Beadle.
'The formation adopted by Antonio Conte at Chelsea and by Gareth Southgate
in Germany has proved successful and has got me thinking.
It requires full backs with attacking instincts and a good engine to get up and down.
In between them it needs three proper centre backs.
It also requires one or two holding midfielders and a playmaker behind a front two.
Could this be something we could do?
Joel and Jimmy certainly fit the bill as full backs and
could be devastating at the level we play at if given even more licence
to get forward.
Having three genuine centre backs would mean we would be better placed to defend the long ball and set pieces.
Dinsley and McGrath would be a good midfield and we would then have Mills and Symons up front and Pablo behind.
Mills and Symons would carry on benefitting from the
space created from defences being stretched to deal with our wide
players and also from crosses into the box.
And Pablo would have a field day running the show with so many options available to him:
dropping back and picking up the ball from the midfield before setting off on a run
give and go with the full backs to put them in behind full backs
bursting into the area after Symons has held the ball up and laid it off to him
quick incisive passes for Mills dart onto
Plus it would be different formation that teams won't have seen before.
Love to see them try it and as there will be half a
dozen games to play once the title has been sewn up we can give it a try
in competitive games before next season.'
